FOLK ARTIST JOEL MABUS - SAT., SEPTEMBER 20TH - 7:00 P.M.
We are thrilled to welcome Joel Mabus to our Mangia Mangia Concert Series. If ever the term "local treasure" can be bestowed upon an artist - it's Joel! Hailing from Southern Illinois, he now resides in the Portage area...and has delighted audiences, not just in his own "backyard," but all across the country.
Joel is an award-winning songwriter, folk-singer, multi-instrumentalist, and teacher. He has performed at countless prestigious festivals and concert series too numerous to mention. This past February, he was awarded two "Jammies" - (West Michigan's answer to "The Grammys" (courtesy of WYCE-FM in Grand Rapids), as well as The Detroit Music Hall of Fames' "Legacy Award," and the "Traditions! Award" for his banjo work on his latest CD "Pepper's Ghost."
Besides a busy performance schedule, Joel has recorded over 20 CD's, in addition to delighting listeners on such radio shows as NPR's "A Prairie Home Companion," "Our Front Porch," and many others.
